Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and expertise to the Management Team regarding volunteer engagement to ensure a coordinated approach to the management and delivery of Careline services.
- Support the maintenance and continued development of an effective programme of volunteer recruitment, induction, management and celebration.
- Create a network of potential volunteers.
- Ensure safeguarding policy and practices are updated regularly and implemented by all Careline staff and volunteers.
- Attend monthly management meetings.
External Relations
- Act as an ambassador for Careline and its causes
- Use your experience and contacts to help support and further Careline’s volunteer management strategy.
Person Specification
Knowledge and experience:
- Proven ability in successfully developing volunteering policy and designing and implementing a structured volunteering programme.
- Demonstrated ability in effective recruitment, training, development, management and retention of volunteers.
- Proven ability to work with communities across a wide range of age and levels of ability, together with a warm, outgoing and engaging approach.
- Proven ability to negotiate and reach compromise in a manner which inspires confidence and respect from others.
- Demonstrated ability to work with remote groups and working in collaboration to create development plans.
Skills and abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience and confidence to deliver training.
- Ability to take initiative, be flexible and think creatively.
- Capacity to inspire and motivate others.
- Ability to deal with, and have empathy for, a diverse range of people.
- Flexible and collaborative in your approach while retaining a clear vision of what you want to achieve.
- The ability to work collaboratively and constructively as a member of the Advocacy board.
The Advisory Board’s purpose:
Careline’s Advisory Board is a volunteer group formed to give advice and support to the board of Trustees; employees and volunteers. Our purpose is to ensure that the strategic plan is delivered within the day to day operations. This is a home-based role, with the possibility if required, to work from our office in Mitcham.
